"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - Calvin Coolidge

Ken's Writing - April 6th to 10th

Ok, back with my head on as straight as it gets for now, and putting some time in from Thursday to Sunday.

I'm not setting a goal for time or production, but rather I'm going to record my time and production and see what I get. No big responsibilities until back to work on Monday, except for exercise, and getting up early each day. I have found, and I believe a number of writers advocate this, that when I'm well rested my brain is in a solid place to write early in the morning. I tested this out on Tuesday before work and the "bar scene" which has me stalled, began to write itself. I also used a bit of a trick, in that when I am stuck, I move to writing in the first person present. I don't like that voice for my story, but the zoomed in focus allows me to see what my character would see, and worry less about language and just get what needs to be said down. Almost like taking notes, or a journal.

I will post again Sunday to update fair or foul. But I'm not worried, for me the letting it happen approach feels right, as long as I'm producing.
