A super brief explanation of Resonant Frequency: Carl jettisons his clinical depression and enters a world of fantasy when he goes off his prescribed medication for manic-depression. In this altered reality of his making he must discover a new personal mythology in order to connect with the woman he believes completes him. However, in a effort to draw his lost love to him, he conjures up more that he bargained for. The the powerful energy of the lost matriarchal Goddess of ancient times is coming his way whether he likes it or not. One thing is for sure; it will either cure him or kill him, because, for Carl, there is no in between.
I leave the explanation brief because what more concerns me right now are the numbers of pages and words and hours I'll need to put in to get a completed rough draft of "this fucking thing" by November 1st this year. I'm at about 5000 words with a strong idea of where I am going and with a number of "stopping points" or scenes through through which I know the story will wind.
70,000 - 90,000-110,000 - I have not a clue; though at 70,000 the story would be 7% told, and it doesn't feel 7% told.
I am writing RF in parts with sub-sections. So far I have written Part 1 consisting of 6 sections; the first section of Part II; and I have completed the first section of Part III. My immediate plan is to finish the opening of Part III, then expand the six sections of Part 1 with more detail and better "connective tissue," then move back to Part II which is going to involve writing dialogue which is something I need to study a bit.
Writing scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I'm wavering between setting a goal to complete a certain portion of work (pages or sections) or just laying out hours. For now, I am going to stick by scheduling time to write/research. In recent weeks I've been a bit heavy on the research out of both necessity and avoiding time with that cursor mocking me (blinking, blinking, blinking, the bastard) - so I'm going purposefully emphasize putting in more time on the manuscript than reading about ancient Goddess-based cultures.
Therefore, writing plan = six hours on manuscript; three hours on research/planning MINIMUM.
