"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - Calvin Coolidge

Alina's 1st Summary - Identity

To be honest, I've been a slacker and I don't really project specific goals for each week. Reason being I generally stress out over what I haven't done instead of celebrating what I have accomplished and simply strive to do more.

I don't mind posting how I've done so far and post what I've accomplished each week. Currently, I'm keeping a spreadsheet on how many hours I'm spending on my writing in some form whether that be actual writing, editing, research, or time spent doing stuff for or in the writing group. I'm also keeping track of my word count as well.

Summary:
My primary work for the writing challenge is "Identity" (this is the current working title).

Thirteen year-old Xanthe Paine is kidnapped from her family and wakes up in the Cyrus Research Center to find out that she now inhabits a cyborg body, more than 50% of her body is machine. This is the story of how she struggles with her new identity, how she grieves over the loss of her family, and how she deals with being illegally experimented on. Will she be the last child to suffer the horrors of these illegal experiments?

I only really only started doing any formal tracking after the Jan meeting where Greg showed off his amazingly detailed summary of his work. But here's what I've got so far:
My total word count as of February 28th is 33,636 words with 14 chapters
Hours spent in February: writing = 25 hrs, editing = 5 hrs, writing related activities = 26.5 hrs

Note: The word count and chapter count will vary in the end. My plan is to write everything I feel needs to be written then in the editing process go threw and cut.

Anyway, that's my report.

Thanks to Ken for setting this up for us. I hope everyone finds it useful.

I'm thinking that if I'm having a particular hard time with a scene I may post and ask for help, hopefully everyone will be receptive and comment if they have time.

Just Write the Fucking Thing!
